Are there any email sending limits?

Yes. Email sending limits help to protect Mailfence IP addresses reputation and ensure all messages sent from Mailfence are delivered in the recipient’s inbox, and not the spam folder.

Please note: Mailfence is not designed for bulk/spam emailing.

There are two main limits Mailfence account can reach: recipients per hour and recipients per email. Following are those limits depending on the type of subscription:

Free subscription:

  • Web-interface:
    • Max. recipients per hour = 25
    • Max. recipients per email = 5
    • Max. emails per day = 50
  • No SMTP service

Entry (and Trial) subscription:

  • Web-interface:
    • Max. recipients per hour = 240
    • Max. recipients per email = 120
    • Max. emails per day = 500
  • SMTP:
    • Max. recipients per hour = 240
    • Max. recipients per email = 120*

Pro email sending limits:

  • Web-interface:
    • Max. recipients per hour = 480
    • Max. recipients per email = 240
    • Max. emails per day = 1000
  • SMTP:
    • Max. recipients per hour = 480
    • Max. recipients per email = 240*

Ultra email sending limits:

  • Web-interface:
    • Max. recipients per hour = 480
    • Max. recipients per email = 240
    • Max. emails per day = 3000
  • SMTP:
    • Max. recipients per hour = 480
    • Max. recipients per email = 240*

Incoming email size limit:

  • 50 MB (including attachments, if any)

Outgoing email size limit:

  • Free plan: 20 MB
  • Entry/Pro/Ultra plan: 50 MB

For sending large files as email attachments, please use Send as hyperlink option.

* Subject to change: In addition to above email sending limits, our anti-spam/anti-abuse system can immediately block the sending of suspicious accounts. If you face such kind of blockage, and believe this was an error from our side, then send us an email to our support, preferable using your Mailfence account reset/notification address.

** Email attachment size increases (depending on the file type) to represent it in a format (MIME encoding) that email system understands.
